Description
Washington Heights Community Service, New York State Office of Mental Health, is seeking a Spanish-speaking Psychiatrist to provide outpatient psychiatric treatment to individuals with serious mental illness.
The selected candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary, mission-driven team at the Inwood Clinic, a state-operated community mental health clinic at Washington Heights Community Service providing comprehensive community-based mental health service for adults with serious mental illness who live in or near Northern Manhattan. Duties will include but are not limited to conducting psychiatric evaluations, providing medication management and education, and supervising psychiatry residents and/or medical students.
Psychiatrists at OMH facilities may be eligible for:
Psychiatrist Loan Repayment Program offering up to $120,000
Supplemental income of up to 50% of salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage

This position is eligible for a Downstate Adjustment of an additional $4,000 annual compensation.

Requirements
Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program if they have:
Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).
Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
OR
Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
The selected candidate will be tested for proficiency in Spanish and must pass at Level 3 proficiency to be considered for appointment. Proficiency must be at a level that will assure your ability to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position.
