Atlanta, GA - Skyland Trail is seeking its next Chief Medical Officer (CMO), looking for candidates with a passion for providing recovery-focused mental health care, strong leadership capabilities, a desire to advance research in the field, and the ability to serve as a clinical representative of the organization. Skyland Trail is an innovative, nationally recognized mental health treatment center offering residential care to adult and adolescent patients. Based in Atlanta and in existence for nearly four decades, Skyland Trail has differentiated itself by providing patients with high-quality, evidence-based care in a serene setting where patients and their families can learn how to live independently and healthily with a mental health diagnosis. Skyland Trail has incorporated a model focused on recovery, structured into a sustainable business model that allows for serving patients independent of their ability to pay. Skyland Trail conducts research in partnership with academic and healthcare organizations to help advance the understanding of effective mental health treatment, incorporating this into its clinical models to remain at the forefront of clinical care.
Reporting directly to the President, the Chief Medical Ofcer will oversee all clinical programs and services for Skyland Trail. They will define and lead clinical strategies and operations for the organization, serving as the clinical voice of the organization externally. The CMO will oversee the clinical team, including psychiatrists, APPs, therapists, psychologists, nurses, and support staff. They will also lead the continued development and improvement of clinical programming, ensuring ongoing evolution and innovation of the treatment models based on evidence-based best practices. The successful candidate will lead Skyland Trail's research endeavors in partnership with academic and healthcare organizations to advance understanding of effective mental health treatment, as well as lead patient outcomes research and client community data analysis. The CMO, as a member of the executive leadership team, will take part in strategic planning processes for Skyland Trail.
The next CMO will be a visionary leader with a patient-centered approach to mental health care. Candidates will bring leadership experiences in a mental health treatment setting with a track record of driving effective change and mentoring junior colleagues. In furthering Skyland Trail's research mission, the next CMO will have experience conducting research and publishing findings. The successful candidate will possess strong business acumen and be comfortable with public speaking, supporting fundraising efforts, and interacting with patients, families, and potential donors. An M.D. or D.O. is required, as is appropriate board certification in psychiatry and the ability to obtain licensure in the state of Georgia. The position will include the opportunity for an adjunct appointment at Emory University.
