Company History

Southern Arizona Mental Health Corporation (SAMHC) is known as the birthplace of community mental health in Southern Arizona. Established in 1962, SAMHC was originally a state-owned and operated mental health facility under the aegis of the Arizona State Hospital. Its mission was expanded in 1965 to provide mental health services to all five southern counties of Arizona: Pima, Cochise, Graham, Greenlee and Santa Cruz.

On July 1, 1996, after four years of active planning by SAMHC staff, the Arizona Department of Health Services and the Arizona State Legislature, SAMHC became an Arizona 501C3 non-profit corporation. www.samhc.com
