BHcare is licensed by the Department of Public Health, and is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
BHcare is designated by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services as the Local Mental Health Authority for the following towns:
* Valley: Ansonia, Derby, Oxford, Seymour and Shelton.
* Shoreline: Branford, East Haven, Guilford, Madison, North Branford and North Haven.
With additional funding from the Department of Social Services, Department of Developmental Services, Department of Children and Families, the Department of Public Health, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, as well as local and private sources, BHcare provides a comprehensive range of recovery-based psychiatric and substance abuse services for adults and children.
BHcare provides domestic violence services for the following towns: Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Bethany, Branford, Derby, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton, West Haven and Woodbridge.
BHcare’s Greater Valley Substance Abuse Action Council (VSAAC) provides addiction/substance abuse prevention and education services for: Ansonia, Bethany, Derby, Milford, New Haven, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton, West Haven and Woodbridge.
Company History
BHcare is a state-licensed, non-profit behavioral health care provider serving the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Greater New Haven, and Shoreline communities. For more than 30 years, BHcare – through its founding organizations, Birmingham Group Health Services and Harbor Health Services – has been providing hope and help for individuals, families and children affected by mental illness, domestic violence and substance abuse.
