A mid-sized community and teaching hospital, Waterbury Hospital is licensed for 357 beds. Each year we care for approximately 15,000 inpatients, treat more than 160,000 people in our outpatient medical clinics and handle more than 58,000 Emergency Department visits. Meanwhile, our One-Day Surgery department serves approximately 6,000 area residents annually, including adults and children.
Waterbury Hospital is the second-largest employer in Waterbury, after the City of Waterbury itself, with 2,000 employees, including full-time, part-time and per diem individuals.
The Center for Behavioral Health, one of the largest in the region, logs more than 27,000 outpatient visits per year. Our inpatient floor, with 25 adult and 5 adolescent beds, provides comprehensive care in a modern and attractive setting. The Center offers counseling for families, individuals, adolescents, and geriatric patients and our programs address substance addiction, crisis counseling, personality disorders, and more.
