Job DescriptionJob DescriptionFacility OverviewOur organization is currently in search of a full-time physician specializing in inpatient psychiatry. Ideal candidates should have completed a residency in Psychiatry and hold Board Certification or be Board Eligible, with a preference for those who are Board Certified. The selected individual will collaborate closely with our inpatient care teams to assess and treat a variety of General Psychiatric disorders.
We are affiliated with a prominent medical school, which enhances our commitment to education. Teaching responsibilities will include mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, making this position an excellent fit for those dedicated to an academic career that encompasses clinical care, education, and research. Strong interpersonal skills and a dedication to teamwork are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver a comprehensive range of psychiatric services, focusing on the assessment and treatment of General Psychiatric disorders.
- Consult with clinical staff regarding diverse patient care matters.
- Engage in treatment planning and make referrals to various programs within the Mental Health Service, ensuring follow-up appointments are scheduled.
- Utilize validated suicide screening tools to evaluate patient safety (risk to self, others, or severe disability) and assess the necessity for psychiatric hospitalization.
- Coordinate patient care with Medical and Emergency Department staff, as well as Mental Health Services, including the Psychiatric Inpatient Unit.
- Complete consults promptly, finalize clinical encounters, and issue return-to-clinic orders.
- Respond to patient phone calls, offering guidance on treatment options.
- Represent the Mental Health Service on various facility committees.
- Provide training and mentorship to General Psychiatry Residents and medical students.
- Act as a consultant for staff and trainees, aiding in the development of appropriate treatment plans for their patients.
- Utilize VA Video Connect (VVC) for clinical visits as needed and assist staff in conducting visits through VVC and other telehealth platforms, while also responding to messages in My HealtheVet.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
